My New Years Poem

My New Years Poem

Six days after Christmas, we sit down for lunch.
The whole family, something you don’t see much.
The Giraffes from Tauranga have come down to eat our steak.
The Peaceful Human Beans from Willows Rd brings cake to feed
their hungry grandchildren.
Family games ensue, the crazy screaming of younger children
destroying your hearing more than it already was.
The day passes on, the Brothers catching up, the Mothers
exchanging exciting things that happened to them the past year.
The Grandmother watches her Grandchildren, smiling and
laughing every time the youngest screams in excitement.
As the sun sets, the Adults drink beer and wine.
The Family sits down outside and inside.
Of course, not on the table.
That is filled up with food, cooked by all three groups.
At about 11.00, all the Family’s split off to go home.
The kids are sent to bed but are determined to stay awake
to New Year's Eve.
But often, they do not succeed.

  2. Hi Bear, I love how descriptive your poem is and your metaphor, and all that food sounds delicious. I love how you added that bit at the end, But often, they do not succeed it just sounds really cool and it's really good.
